It almost seems that CNN* is a wannabe FOX or MSNBC.
It is more than swift iron knee that FOX has any concern for material being with-held.

FOX is the veritable "you started it" network. The media was too liberal so they had to have a "fair and balanced" take on their reality. Making room for MSNBC as a counter force. CNN has the real challenge trying not to be either, but still news or journalism in a market environment.

Yet tonight, we take comfort in knowing that the tide of war is receding. Fewer of our sons and daughters are serving in harm’s way. We’ve ended our combat mission in Iraq, with 100,000 American troops already out of that country. And even as there will be dark days ahead in Afghanistan, the light of a secure peace can be seen in the distance. These long wars will come to a responsible end.

As they do, we must learn their lessons. Already this decade of war has caused many to question the nature of America’s engagement around the world. Some would have America retreat from our responsibility as an anchor of global security, and embrace an isolation that ignores the very real threats that we face. Others would have America over-extended, confronting every evil that can be found abroad.

We must chart a more centered course. Like generations before, we must embrace America’s singular role in the course of human events. But we must be as pragmatic as we are passionate; as strategic as we are resolute. When threatened, we must respond with force -- but when that force can be targeted, we need not deploy large armies overseas. When innocents are being slaughtered and global security endangered, we don’t have to choose between standing idly by or acting on our own. Instead, we must rally international action, which we’re doing in Libya, where we do not have a single soldier on the ground, but are supporting allies in protecting the Libyan people and giving them the chance to determine their own destiny.

In all that we do, we must remember that what sets America apart is not solely our power -- it is the principles upon which our union was founded.

Keith Olberman brought this to light. My original concern was that Beck was so loose in his grammar or rhetoric that some misinterpretation was almost inescapable(indeed prophetic and not for profit).

It turns out he was even loose with his script. As I transcribed the video from Countdown:
Beck: Jesus conquered death, he wasn’t victimized he chose to give his life, he did have a choice. If he was a victim and this theology was true, then Jesus would have come back from the dead and made the Jews pay for what they did. That’s an abomination.
As his blog scripted it:
This is kind of complex, because Jesus did identify with the victims. But Jesus wasn't a victim, he was a conqueror. Jesus conquered death. He chose to give his life. Jesus didn't come back from the dead and make the Jews pay for what they did. That would have been an abomination.

As a Norman Goldman caller called it: 32:45 to 35:47 or more...
Not that there are soul* interpretations, but there are several that say Judas did pay, in fact possibly to the potter's field.

Revolutionary Hospitals (and Back Again)

Recently a health reform critic(kindly put) claimed that the founding fathers had hospitals and did not mention them in the constitution(awkwardly put), but I cannot adequately paraphrase the rhetoric. But I did wonder at the time if it was accurate. Yesterday NPI, has a different angle on health care reform and technical advances and the baby boom face of more than half of recipients of health care. But an auxiliary question came to mind. When did health care become for profit? But the real question is when did health insurance become for profit? My problem is that there is always a deeper question. Our problem is that too many have the wrong answers*.

Some have such a weak definition of capitalism that it is the nature of economics since the public market. Others don't even realize what the "invisible hand" means? I have not fully read Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations, but at least I know he waved it. But I forgot who recently said, it is called the "Invisible Hand" because it is not there ***. While other's still... [trailing off] I might have been heading to a more substantial answer, but my point is that some people get caught up in the debate between dirty words and the only word. Too many are taking sides, especially when it comes to the word "progressive" by playing on fears and taking change for granted, and passing the buck, but not the money**.

* and without picking sides I would add: too many feel they have the only answer. At least when it comes to history and what we are based on, with intentions to move forward.

** ironically these last two links have a good point in common(well not exactly): but in regards to the baseline, the blogger admits to some essentials or entitlements if you will, at least outside their argument for the need for profit, while Milton Friedman (a Libertarian) suggests a negative income tax to balance the social responsibility of companies to make profits. And entitlements are the real subject for the operating table, but so might be the flat tax and overall safety net reform. Actually speaking of dirty words, reform is not the word, adjustments are all that are needed to . Not that major adjustments might need to be considered in regard to globalization and world finance and diplomacy, which really scares the one word people, not to mention communities. It is not about the finger in the dike or the egg on the wall or the face of humpty dumpty, it is about the hands on the foundation of civilization.

I would certainly be interested in finding out how the concert was presented, but maybe there is the legal opportunity that the Invocation is now public right rather than HBO property properly. But I don't know if that is justified.

After a quick Google or Yahoo(!) I found an anachronism. Of course everything is, if you are trying to catch up with history or follow John McCain. But it was his leap from "founding fathers" to "In God we trust".

Ok, now follow me: He believes in God, he believes in the Constitution, "God" is not in the constitution, "trust" is. Nor is "Creator", so who made these things up. "Being" and "Power" is; usually in relation to requirements and connections to the people.

Ouch! I did not know I was going there. But the point is the flip-flop from his "no litmus test" to his interpretation or "quote" interpretations as exposed on the grill, I mean "The View". For those not down with computers, the point is that embedded in the above links is the fact that the motto of the United States is "In God we trust" and came about in 1956. And for those who are reminded of the Pledge of Allegiance, it was changed in 1954. And back to the history of our motto: e pluribus unum: "Out of Many, One." I guess this is McCain's interpretation of change or quote interpretation, or nuance.

[And speaking of stretch, as in Caesar's Salad, I refer to the tossing of "isms" as coat of arms. The dressing and heat of the kitchen metaphors, makes her no Truman or Teddy, but she has been referred to as "Reagan in a dress" and it should be checked if her lipstick is teflon.]

There are too many potential links to alert you to, but the above should hit the mark. The point is do we intend to move forward or are we going back? Nuclear Proliferation seems the height of counter productivity in the so called new world since 9-11. It is not just MAD but INSANE and that stands for nothing, but where we are headed. That may be the real point of their madness. Hit and Run, somebody wins but what?

"Just a thought" can be punctuated several ways, but "Just" is more, than just assuming that things are "old" or "new". Just is the purpose of our constitution, the only thing the president is sworn to defend. "Just" is the project our founding fathers settled on in it's words and even the preamble gets lost in the difference between needs and wants.
